District Attorney Scott Colom Spends Weekend Traveling the State, Talking to Mississippians

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 6, 2025

Scott attended events in Oktibbeha, Lowndes, and Rankin Counties this weekend.

Columbus, MS – Over the weekend, U.S. Senate Candidate and District Attorney Scott Colom traveled across Mississippi, talking to voters on key issues, such as rising costs in healthcare and bringing good jobs back to Mississippi for young people. Colom delivered a speech at the Rankin County Democratic Banquet, spoke with voters and students at Mississippi State University’s Bulldog Bash Maroon Market in Starkville, and concluded his weekend by visiting Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, MS.

During Scott’s visit to the Rankin County Democratic Banquet, State Representative Zakiya Summers (House District 68) said, “He listens before he leads, he works to unite rather than divide, and he understands that real leadership means fighting for everyday Mississippians — not political gain. Scott Colom represents the kind of vision, integrity, and progress Mississippi has been waiting for.”

“When I travel around our state and talk to Mississippians, it’s clear what’s on their minds: lowering costs, making health care more affordable, and making sure young people have good jobs when they graduate,” said Colom. “Mississippians feel left behind, and that’s exactly why I’m running. In the Senate, I’ll be a champion for them.”

About Scott: Scott Colom is a seventh-generation Mississippian, proud husband and father of two, and district attorney who fights every day to keep Mississippians safe.

Guided by his Christian faith, Scott has dedicated his life to serving his neighbors and keeping them safe from violent criminals. Now he’s running to lower costs for families, save our Mississippi hospitals, and bring good jobs home. Scott loves his state and will always put Mississippi first – and he’ll work with anyone, Republican or Democrat, to get things done for us.
